AGRICULTURAL ECONOMIST GRADUATES/ HONOURS GRADUATES/ MASTERS GRADUATES

The South African Cane Growers’ Association is the national organization representing independent sugar cane growers. The organisation’s specialist services ensure that local grower structures and individual growers are supported in economic, industrial, technical and institutional matters. SA Canegrowers, partnering with AgriSETA, have a great graduate opportunity for Graduate Agricultural Economists to support SA Canegrowers in administration and information sharing of financial products for farm employees, assist the Regional Staff in various business and economic duties as required, and to support growers in their farm business, in the respective areas. 

The Graduate will be working in an area alongside a Regional Services Staff Member to assist the small-scale sugar cane growers in the particular areas with business skills and economics as well as promoting information about the financial products available for farm workers and assisting with administration and other activities. 

Two Positions based in either of the following areas: 

1. Based in Eston and Noodsberg 

 

The Requirements (Essential and General): 

- Cannot have benefited from NASFAS funding 

- Cannot have benefitted from any AgriSETA funded opportunity be it work or studies 

- Completed BCom or BSc in Agricultural Economics 

- Masters and Honours graduates are preferable 

- Core Mathematics up to Grade 12. 

- Compiling and meeting strict reporting deadlines 

- Good verbal and written communication skills 

- A strong desire to work in an agricultural environment 

- Excellent numerical skills 

- Basic computer literacy 

- Ability to work independently and within a team 

- Some experience with business plans would be advantageous 

- A valid driver’s licence with driving experience is essential 

- Language preference – isiZulu 

 

What we Offer: 

A 12-month fixed term contract and the successful incumbent will receive a market related salary on a monthly basis. 

What is Expected from the Graduate: 

No accommodation is available, graduates must arrange their own accommodation and transport to and from the offices in each area respectively. Transport to perform your duties, is provided. 

The graduate must have previous driving experience.
