Nu finns resultat från doktorandernas examensenkät (exit poll) 2021. Trenden är tydlig: Allt fler doktorander är nöjda med KI och med sina handledare och allt fler upplever en god arbetsmiljö i sin forskargrupp.

Lär dig skriva populärvetenskapligt och kommunicera din forskning till det omgivande samhället
|
|
KI är medlem i The Conversation, en internationell nyhetssajt där akademiker själva skriver artiklar inom sina expertområden. Läs mer om samarbetet eller anmäl dig till workshopen Hitta nyhetspotentialen i din forskning och skriv för The Conversation den 5:e maj eller 23:e maj kl. 10.30 –12.30. Workshoparna vänder sig framförallt till disputerade forskare och doktorander i slutet av sin utbildning.
Tips: Att kommunicera sin forskning via The Conversation kan vara ett tillfälle att bidra till samhällets utveckling och stödja andras lärande (se de nationella examensmålen för doktorsexamen).

Textmatchning och plagiatgranskning
|
|
I samband med halvtidskontrollen ska KI:s doktorander köra sin litteraturöversikt i textmatchningsprogrammet iThenticate i syfte att skapa ett lärandemoment kring vetenskapligt skrivande. Det behövs förståelse för skillnaden mellan plagiat, självplagiat och mellan bristande kvalitet och god kvalitet samt ett gott omdöme när man tolkar en granskningsrapport. Det är viktigt att textmatchningsprogram inte ses som plagieringsdetektorer utan att resultatet sätts in i sitt sammanhang och att man förstår vad textöverlappen innebär. Därför ställer KI krav på att doktorand och handledare diskuterar dessa frågor.

Nordisk forskarutbildningskonferens ”Sustainability in health” på universitetet i Bergen 17 – 18 juni

Välkommen till Nordocs årliga forskarutbildningskonferens som i år har temat ”Sustainability in Health”. I anslutning till konferensen arrangeras också en digital sommarforskarskola för doktorander.

|
|
Totala antalet aktiva doktorander under höstterminen 2021 var 2061 st. Det utfärdades 353 doktorsexamina och 5 licentiatexamina under året, och 380 nya doktorander, varav 60 % kvinnor, antogs.

Seminarieserie: Thursdays for Sustainability at KI
|
|
Studenter för hållbar utveckling vid KI (SSD@KI) är stolta över att presentera seminarieserien Thursdays for Sustainability at KI. Det återkommande temat för seminarieserien är samspelet mellan människors hälsa och miljön, samt hur de ekonomiska, sociala och miljömässiga dimensionerna i FN:s globala mål för hållbara utveckling (SDG) kan vägleda oss mot en bättre hälsa för alla och en mer hållbar framtid. Nästa seminarium har temat “Financial Aid for Health Systems: Is It Sustainable?” och äger rum torsdag den 14 april kl. 17.30.

Doktorandernas sommarkonferens 2022: Soft skills for a successful PhD

Anmäl dig till doktorandernas sommarkonferens 11 – 12 juni – en konferens organiserad av doktorander för doktorander.
Årets tema är “soft skills”, och konferensen behandlar bl.a. presentationsteknik, kommunikationsförmåga, skrivande, akademisk produktivitet, stresshanteringstekniker och olika karriärmöjligheter efter doktorsexamen.
Notera att anmälan kräver att din forskargruppsledare bidrar med 1000kr per student.

Learn to write popular science and communicate your research to the surrounding society
|
|
KI is a member of The Conversation, an international news site where academics themselves write articles in their areas of expertise. Read more about the collaboration or sign up for the workshop Find the news potential in your research and write for The Conversation on 5 May or 23 May at 10.30 –12.30. The workshops are primarily aimed at researchers and doctoral students at the end of their doctoral studies.
Tip: Communicating your research via The Conversation can be an opportunity to contribute to the development of society and support the learning of others (see the outcomes for doctoral education according to the Higher Education Ordinance).

Text matching and plagiarism checks
|
|
In order to create a learning experience regarding scientific writing KI's doctoral students run their literature review in the text matching system iThenticate in connection with the half-time review. When interpreting an iThenticate similarity report, you need to have good judgment, and to understand the difference between plagiarism, self-plagiarism and between poor and good quality. It is important that text matching systems are not seen as plagiarism detectors but that the result is put into context and that one understands what the text overlap implicates. KI therefore requires that doctoral students and supervisors discuss these issues.

The prize recognizes one or more researchers/doctoral students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding utilization of research results that have led to innovation. Anyone can nominate one or more candidates.

Doctoral education statistics from KI’s annual report 2021

The total number of active doctoral students during the autumn semester 2021 was 2061. 353 doctoral degrees and 5 licentiate degrees were issued during 2021. 380 persons were admitted to doctoral education, of which 60 % were women.

Students for Sustainable Development at KI (SSD@KI) are proud to present the seminar series Thursdays for Sustainability at KI. The recurrent theme for the seminar series is the interconnectivity between human and environmental health, as well as how the economic, social and environmental pillars of the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) can guide us towards a better planetary health and a more sustainable future. The theme for the next seminar that will be held on Thursday 14 April at 17:30 is “Financial Aid for Health Systems: Is It Sustainable?”.

Sign up for the PhD student conference held on 11 – 12th June 2022 - organised by and for PhD students throughout KI!
This year we will be focusing on soft skills. Soft skills include communication, academic productivity, presentation/writing, stress management techniques, and insight into career options after the PhD, all of which are highly important for a successful PhD journey.
