With the new KI strategy 2030 in its last stages of preparation, I am looking forward to discussing strategic considerations within the Faculty Board. Until then we continue our ongoing work regarding doctoral education, and I hope that many of you took the recent opportunity to apply for KID financing. KID is just one of the many successful activities we conduct, and I look forward to a ‘brainstorming’ session about KID at a future meeting with the Committee for Doctoral Education. We have introduced a novel ‘brainstorming’ session during each committee meeting, focusing on different aspects of doctoral education each time, in order to explore the possibility of further developing these doctoral education activities.

|
This brainstorming is an example of a new tradition we are creating. The way doctoral education is conducted is ever-changing, and in particular its increased internationalization presents us with new challenges that require adaptation. So finding a good balance between old and new traditions should be an efficient strategy. My major aim is not to create new rules and regulations, however, but rather to fully implement existing ones, and we are currently working to improve the information we provide you to assist you to this purpose.
Later this week I will be attending the ORPHEUS annual conference in Dublin, the largest gathering for doctoral education in Europe. It will be a pleasure to represent KI at this meeting, and to be able to report on our continued efforts to maintain the high standard of doctoral education we offer – thanks to your good work.
