Några ord från Universitetsledningen
|

Ny forskarskola i hälsovetenskap
|

A WORD FROM THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT
|
We are keeping an hourly watch on coronavirus developments and the information issued by the Public Health Agency and other relevant authorities. Our main concern is to do everything we can to optimise the health, safety, security and peace of mind of our students and staff and to minimise the risk of infection and disruption to our education and research activities
Finding this balance between active intervention and stability of core/support activities is a major challenge, especially as there are so many uncertainties in how the pandemic will develop, and we do not wish to stoke unnecessary alarm by taking poorly considered decisions or issuing recommendations without strong supporting evidence.
As is so often the case, there are different interests to consider, and we take care to do so judiciously and respectfully.
The university management and crisis organisation are ready to respond swiftly and forcefully if necessary around the clock, regardless of incident. KI has now issued a continuation plan, on the basis of which departments and equivalent are making operational risk assessments so that we can be prepared if the situation deteriorates.
As a university we have a responsibility not only towards our staff and students but also to society in general. We are therefore now supporting regional and national healthcare services in many ways; for instance, many of our researchers are spreading information and facts via the media and we have been tasked by the National Board of Health and Welfare to develop a coronavirus-related training package for medical staff.
KI’s Information for staff and students is kept continually updated. To ensure a safe work environment, special recommendations are in place for travel, symptoms, hygiene, conferences and visitors.
All staff and students are urged to keep themselves informed daily in order to find out about and act upon new recommendations as they are issued.

CANCELLED – the 2020 Educational Congress, Lifelong Learning is cancelled and will not be held as planned on 24 March.
Distance teaching. We realise that the current situation necessitates a quick shift from analogue to digital teaching. The Teaching and Learning Unit is therefore focusing on information and support on digital resources for teachers who need it. Click here for information on digitalisation and digital tools.
Update – new six-year medical programme. KI's application for a new six-year medical program has been approved by the President and will now be sent to the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ). The proposal for a new program places great emphasis on integrating basic science competencies with clinical skills to a greater extent throughout the education and on increasing the use of student-activating pedagogy. The planning of the implementation of the new program is now underway within the Committee for Education. UKÄ is expected to make a decision on the degree permit in January and after this has been granted, KI can formally set up the program. Thereafter, syllabus and course syllabi are established.

Region Stockholm opens a Health Data Centre
|
The Health Data Centre opened in 2019 as a collaboration organisation within Region Stockholm to spare researchers with ethical approval and a research plan the trouble of having to appeal to different care providers to gain access to health data. It also gives care providers an aggregated point of contact with professional, uniform assessments of what types of data are to be shared and how this is to be done under the prevailing laws.

KI tasked with training personnel in connection with Covid-19. KI has been instructed by the National Board of Health and Welfare to arrange an education, training and practice package (e.g. on the handling of personal protective equipment) for medical personnel in connection with the Covid-19 outbreak. Responsibility for this has been delegated to the Centre of Excellence for Disaster Medicine.
Swedish Research Council has evaluated the Linné Centres. The Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas) financed 40 Linné Centres to the tune of SEK 2.7 billion between 2006 and 2018. In the subsequent evaluation, three higher education institutions have been picked as the top three in different categories, two of which include KI.
