Delta i Stockholm Life Science Conference
Frågor kring life science-sektorns roll har aktualiserats.

A WORD FROM THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT
|
Return to campus for education at all levels after the summer
At the moment, plans are being made to make it possible for KI's educational programmes at all levels to be located on campus from the autumn term 2021. The decision applies on the basis that the spread of COVID-19 is expected to decrease and that vaccinations are carried out according to plan. We are very much looking forward to our campuses being populated and filled with life once again, which is especially pleasing, of course, given the increase in the number of applicants we have had for this autumn’s educational programmes (in Swedish). Stay up to date on KI's recommendations regarding the autumn.
The allocation of additional funding for education and research in the spring budget is disappointing
During the pandemic, Swedish researchers and university staff have been quick to re-prioritize and change to meet the need for support from the healthcare services. This has meant that some areas of medical research during the year have had to be postponed. For KI, as a medical university, it is a matter of course to change during one of the greatest health crises of our time. It is therefore disappointing that in the government's spring budget or the distribution of the additional support for education at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as for research and education at postgraduate level, hardly any resources have been allocated to ensure that medical and health initiatives remain at the forefront. KI does not receive any part of the additional funds that are spent on education at undergraduate and advanced levels.
In order for Sweden's healthcare – and by extension the patients – to be better equipped for the next health crisis and to be able to cope with the care that needs to be carried out in the future, it is necessary for resources and focus to be dedicated to medical research. How KI, together with several higher education institutions, will shed more light on the issue can be found in the President's blog.

accountability, and how do we create a universal readiness for health? How do we rebuild better, and how do we create the conditions for a more sustainable life?
