As you know, I have taken over from Margaret, who has moved on to Lab Medicine after many years as Director of Research Studies at the department. I want to take the opportunity to thank Margaret for the great efforts she has made for everyone, and I hope that I, Rachael and Katy can compensate to some extent for her absence.
One thing we wanted to introduce is this newsletter that you are reading right now. Here we will try to collect new and up-to-date information regarding research and postgraduate education. I hope you will find it worth reading.
As I have previously told you, those who will submit a dissertation application after March 15, 2024 must reflect on their learning during their doctoral education. There will be a new box to fill in on the dissertation application in a similar way as the supervisors already do.
Furthermore, I want to emphasise that the individual study plans needs to be written and that you, Ph.D students and main supervisors, must have this done as soon as possible. There are a few of them that are not done yet and I urge you all to review your ISP plans so that they are all cleared before the New Year.
I would also like to invite you to participate in the research seminars, which we will change in slightly different ways during the coming year. Among other things, we will try to bring in more external lecturers and we will make the ISP seminars a quarter of an hour longer to enable a livelier discussion.
We also want to thank you for being Ph.D students and supervisors at the department and that everything flows towards new scientific achievements during the winter. Looking forward to working with you in 2024!
But before we continue our work in 2024, it is now time for Christmas leave. I wish you all a Merry Christmas with lots of Christmas cheer and a relaxing New Year's and Epiphany holidays.
