JPIAMR launches the Roadmap of Actions 2019-2024

 

In May 2019, JPIAMR published the JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), which emphasises the One Health approach to address AMR and outlines six key priority topics within the AMR field: Therapeutics, Diagnostics, Surveillance, Transmission, Environment and Interventions. The The SRIA provides a framework for the JPIAMR Roadmap of Actions 2019-2024 that will guide future joint transnational actions of the JPIAMR as well as to serve as an information resource for other strategic initiatives to support coordination and synergistic actions. The Roadmap defines future JPIAMR research calls, network calls, strategic workshops and JPIAMR-VRI activities.

Second Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance

 

On the 19-20 June 2019, JPIAMR participated in the Second Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance, Accelerating Ambitions for Future Health in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The program can be seen here.

JPIAMR took part in a panel discussion in a break-out session entitled "Addressing AMR to deliver the SDGs – strengthen knowledge and evidence base" and held an information stand for participants to provide information on the JPIAMR activities. JPIAMR was highlighted in a speech by the European Commissioner, Mr. Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis who called on countries to join the important work of JPIAMR.

 

 

 

JPIAMR regional workshop in Argentina

 

On 5-7 June 2019 the JPIAMR regional workshop, Experiences and Areas of Interest for Strengthening Antimicrobial Resistance Networks was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There were presentations on the AMR surveillance networks in the Latin American region based on the One Health approach followed by an exchange of good practices and relevant experiences. The event also provided a space to generate exchanges between research groups, leading health institutions, regulators, industry food sector and consumers, among others.

The workshop was hosted by JPIAMR together with the Argentinian Ministry for Education, Culture, Science and Technology and the European Commission. A report will be published in the coming weeks.

 

JPIAMR at Global AMR R&D Hub workshop

 

On May 28 in Geneva, JPIAMR participated at the Global AMR R&D Hub workshop on “AMR R&D investments”. The objective was to identify and discuss opportunities for investments and new and innovative financing mechanisms for AMR R&D using a global One Health approach. It aimed at providing recommendations on how the Global AMR R&D Hub can support those activities. JPIAMR’s Laura Marin presented in one of the sessions about AMR investments and the JPIAMR AMR Research Funding Dashboard.

European Research and Innovation Days

 

In the last week of September 2019 the European Commission DG RTD will organise the European Research and Innovation Days, a gathering of Europe’s best and brightest researchers, scientists, innovators and policy makers. This event will include a strategic planning session on “tackling infectious diseases” regarding the future HorizonEurope where JPIAMR will be presenting about the urgency to support AMR research.

JPIAMR join forces with Water JPI and JPI Oceans for international showcase in Stockholm

 

The three JPIs, along with the Swedish Research Council, and Formas, are gathering experts to discuss the area of emerging contaminants and pathogens; with one prime example being antibiotic resistant bacteria and their serious risk to our freshwater and marine ecosystems.

Pre-publication of SC 1 Work Programme 2018-2020

 

The last work programme 2018-2020 for Societal Challenge 1 covers three years and gathers some 50% of the available investment in Research and Innovation for this challenge. A draft of the 2019 update is now available.

 

The work programme contains the ERA-Net call and several other topics on AMR (procurement of diagnostics, clinical management in high prevalence settings, and the establishment of a Europe-wide clinical trial network). The final version will be published end of June.

Upcoming JPIAMR Workshops

 

Hackathon, Sweden, 2019

JPIAMR is currently planning to hold a Hackathon to find innovative solutions to AMR in the Digital World. The date will shortly be set and communicated on the JPIAMR webpage. The Hackathon aims to engage participants should be from all walks of life and even target non-traditional collaborators as long as they are all committed to finding solutions to the AMR challenge.

Asian AMR Regional Workshop, Suwon, South Korea, 2019

A JPIAMR regional workshop hosted by South Korea and Japan will be held on December 4-5 2019 in Suwon in South Korea. The workshop will focus on the AMR situation in Asia, with a focus on therapeutics and alternatives, and diagnostics. More information will shortly be available on the JPIAMR website.

Members of JPIAMR will attend FEMS 2019 from July 7-11 in Glasgow, Scotland. If attending as well, please stop by our poster on the JPIAMR Virtual Research Institute.
