Internationalisering inom utbildning på KI blickar framåt efter handlingsplanen

Lars Henningsohn och Jonas Sundbäck, utsedda av kommittén för utbildning att driva internationalisering, samlade den 2 april ansvariga vid utbildningsprogrammen till ett öppet möte. På agendan fanns den nyligen avslutade handlingsplanen för internationalisering 2014-2018 och det fortsatta arbetet utifrån internationaliseringsutredningen och vår egen kommande Strategi 2030. Studenter deltog också och pekade bland annat på vikten av att integrera svenska och internationella studenter så att alla kan få ta del av det internationella universitet som KI är. Öppen föreläsning: internationella dagen mot homo-, trans- och bifobi (IDAHOT) 17 maj
|
|
IDAHOT instiftades 2004 för att uppmärksamma våld och diskriminering som HBTQIA-personer utsätts för runt om i världen. KI uppmärksammar dagen genom ett öppet lunchseminarium på engelska om HBTQIA och hälsa. Föreläsare är Richard Bränström, docent i folkhälsovetenskap vid institutionen för klinisk neurovetenskap. Vegetarisk lunchwrap kommer erbjudas till anmälda.

Stor ökning av internationella studenter i Stockholm enligt ny rapport från Staf
|
|
I en ny rapport från Stockholms Akademiska Forum (Staf) visar att antalet internationella studenter i Stockholm har ökat med 20 % under de sista tre åren. Det innebär att antalet närmar sig 10 000, vilket motsvarar 11 % av den totala studentpopulationen. För första gången sedan studieavgifterna infördes 2011 är Kina också landet med flest internationella studenter i Stockholm. Pressmedelande från Staf och fullständig rapport.

Årets vinnare av Internationaliseringspriset 2019 premieras för internationalisering på hemmaplan (IaH)
|
|
För tredje året i rad delar Sveriges medicinska fakulteter ut Pris för internationalisering av högre utbildning på grundnivå och avancerad nivå. Ewa-Lena Bratt, Louise Freytag och Camilla Eide ansvarar för en kurs i omvårdnad i komplexa situationer under sjuksköterskeprogrammet vid Sahlgrenska akademin, Göteborgs universitet. UHR positivt till ökat samarbete kring internationalisering
|
|
Frågor som rör internationaliseringen av högre utbildning bör samordnas bättre. Det är en av slutsatserna i Internationaliseringsutredningen, som bland annat föreslår att en ny plattform för internationalisering etableras. Positivt, menar UHR i yttrandet till regeringen. Sverige placerar sig högt i U21 ranking
|
|
USA, Schweiz, Storbrittannien, Sverige och Danmark ligger i topp vad gäller högre utbildning på ett nationellt plan, enligt en rankningsrapport från Universitas 21. Den här rankingen skiljer sig eftersom den utvärderar system för högre utbildning nationellt och inte bara enskilda lärosäten. Den mäter befolkningens utbildningsnivå, relationerna mellan högskolor och externa intressenter och produktion av innovativ forskning. Läs mer om rankingen och artikeln i University World News.

Den kommande "Kinakrisen" inom högre utbildning
|
|
University World News uppmärksammar i en artikel nyligen hur universitet globalt kommit att bli alltmer beroende av kinesiska studenter. Likaså är en betydande andel postdoktorer, nödvändiga för bemanning i forskningslaboratorier och i undervisning, från Kina. Kinas roll inom högre utbildning internationellt är av olika anledningar på väg att förändras betydligt - med konsekvenser för resten av världen.

Kanada satsar miljoner på internationell utbildning
|
|
Kanadas regering har föreslagit en investering på 147 miljoner och ytterligare 8 miljoner per år efter det. Medlen kommer att användas för att främja arbete och studier i utlandet genom bland annat utveckling av ett mobilitetsprogram med fokus på utresande studenter. "In an increasingly global economy and labour market, Canadian youth need to develop a range of skills. These include adaptability, fluency in more than one or two languages and inter-cultural skills—skills that are best fostered through international experiences, such as travelling, studying and working overseas", står det i budgettexten. Nordic University Health Hub - en reurs online

Nyligen samlades de som arbetar med internationalisering vid Sveriges medicinska fakulteter i Uppsala på nätverksmöte (NIMUS). Mats Målqvist, ansvarig för global hälsa vid Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsa berättade om hur Uppsala universitet arbetar med globalhälsoperspektiv i sina utbildningar och tipsade om en plattform som är ett Nordplussamarbete , Nordic University Health Hub. Där finns bl a flera föreläsningar inom global hälsa från Köpenhamns universitet tex. An Introduction to Global Health - Climate Change and Health.

Internationalisation in education at KI is looking forward beyond the action plan
|
|
Lars Henningsohn and Jonas Sundbäck, appointed by the Committee for Higher Education to focus on Internationalisation of education, gathered responsible at the study programmes to an open meeting 2 April. On the agenda were the recently completed Action plan for internationalisation 2014-2018 and the work ahead based on the national internationalisation report (Internationaliseringsutredningen) and our own forthcoming Strategy 2030. Students also participated and they pointed out, among other things, the importance of integrating Swedish and international students so that everyone can feel they are part of the international university that KI is. Open seminar: International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) 17 May

|
IDAHOT was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions. KI pays attention to the day by arranging an open lunch seminar (in English) on LGBTQIA and health. Speaker is Richard Bränström, assistant professor in health psychology at KI’s Department of Clinical Neuroscience. Complementary vegetarian lunch wrap will be served. Welcome 17May at 11.30-12.30 in KIB-square, University Library Campus Solna. Please register 10 May the latest.

Significant increase in international students studying in Stockholm according to report from Staf
|
|
A new report published by the Stockholm Academic Forum (Staf) shows that the number of international students attendinghigher education institutions in Stockholm, Sweden, has increased by 20% over the last three years. The total number of international students now comes close to 10,000, or about 11% of the student population.For the first time since student fees were introduced in Sweden in 2011, China is the biggest source of international students. Winner of the Internationalisation Prize 2019 awarded for internationalisation at home (IaH)
|
|
For the third year in a row, Sweden's medical faculties have awarded the Prize for internationalisation of higher education at the undergraduate and advanced levels. Winner 2019 is Ewa-Lena Bratt, Louise Freytag and Camilla Eide who are responsible for a course in nursing in complex situations in the Study Programme in Nursing at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. UHR believes in increased cooperation for internationalisation
|
|
Issues related to the internationalisation of higher education should be better coordinated. It is one of the conclusions in the National report on Internationalisation (Internationaliseringsutredningen), which among other things proposes that a new platform for internationalisation should be established. The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) is positive and just handed in their response of the consultation. Read more at UHR website (in Swedish). All repsonses are published here (in Swedish).

Sweden ranks well in U21 ranking
|
|
The United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Denmark are the world’s top five countries in terms of their higher education achievements, according to a rankings report by the Universitas 21 (U21) group.The national ranking of systems is different because it evaluates systems of higher education and not simply institutions. It examines the education and training of a country's people, the development of relationships between higher education institutions and external stakeholders and the production of innovative research. The coming "China crisis" in global higher education
|
|
Higher education institutions in major countries have come to depend on Chinese students for their increasingly important international student enrolments. Significant numbers of post-docs, necessary to staff research laboratories and sometimes to engage in teaching, also come from China.For a range of reasons, China’s global higher education role is about to change significantly – with implications for the rest of the world. Canada: federal budget allocates millions to international education
|
|
The government proposed to invest CA$147m and $8m per year after that. The funding will be used to support work and study opportunities abroad, with the development of an outbound student mobility program, and to promote Canadian education abroad with a focus on its quality. "In an increasingly global economy and labour market, Canadian youth need to develop a range of skills. These include adaptability, fluency in more than one or two languages and inter-cultural skills—skills that are best fostered through international experiences, such as travelling, studying and working overseas,” the budget text read. Nordic University Health Hub - a resource online
|
|
Recently internationalisation staff who work at the Swedish medical faculties (NIMUS) met in Uppsala. Mats Målqvist, responsible for global health at the Department of Women's and Children's Health presented how Uppsala university is working with a global health perspective in education and showed a platform that is a North Plus collaboration, Nordic University Health Hub. There are, among other things, several lectures in global health from Copenhagen's universities eg. An Introduction to Global Health - Climate Change and Health.
