Välkomna nya internationella (och nationella) studenter!
|
|
Med anledning av covid-19 välkomnades alla nya internationella och nationella studenter på våra globala master- och kandidatprogram samt utbytesstudenter till en digital introduktionsdag den 27 augusti 2020. I höst tar KI endast emot ett fåtal utbytesstudenter och endast för kurser som inte innehåller verksamhetsförlagd utbildning. De nyantagna studenterna har tillsammans erfarenhet från studier i 73 olika länder. Läs mer om programmet på ki.se.

Den 9 och 10 september är det dags för den årliga konferensen inom KI-Mayo samarbetet - i år i ett nytt intressant digitalt format. Anmäl dig till föreläsningarna inom ditt intresseområde. All information finns på KI-Mayosamarbetets sida.

Linnaeus-Palme ansökningar beviljade för nya och gamla samarbeten
|
|
KI söker årligen om nya eller förlängning av befintliga samarbeten med länder utanför Europa genom det Sidafinansierade Linneaus-Palme (LP) programmet. Samarbetena omfattar både student- och lärarutbyten. I juni meddelade UHR att samtliga KI:s fyra ansökningar hade beviljats. Det var goda nyheter för arbetsterapeutprogrammet, tandläkarprogrammet, och läkarprogrammet. Mer information om KI:s projekt och ansvariga. Maria Bradley, koordinator för läkarprogrammets LP-finasierade samarbete med Malawi: "Tack vare LP-stipendier får läkarstudenter och lärare från KI och Malawi en fantastisk möjlighet at ta del av väldigt olika utbildnings- och sjukvårdssystem. Fortsatt finansiering ger också kontinuitet som är viktigt för att utveckla samarbetet."

KI stärker sin position inom flera områden i Shanghairankningen
|
|
I år och förra året gjordes flera metodförändringar som medfört att en mängd av världens universitet antingen har flyttats uppåt eller nedåt på Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU:s (också kallad Shanghai-rankningen) olika rankningslistor. Förändringar har bland annat rört hur publikationer räknas, hur highly citied researchers räknas och hur prisvinnare räknas. Nyligen släpptes en ny rankning från ARWU. KI ligger fortsatt stabilt och stärker sin position inom flera områden. Läs mer på nyheter.ki.se

Att förstå internationella studenters fulla värde

Författaren Ly Tran från Deakin University diskuterad nyligen i en artikel i University World News att "det aktuella fokuset på internationella studenters ekonomiska värde kan innebära att man missar möjligheter att ta tillvara på och optimera de olika kulturella och intellektuella värden som internationella studenter kan bidra med i internationell digital undervisning, det "nya normala" efter covid-19, som kan berika inlärning för alla" (egen översättning) Läs artikeln i sin helhet.

En ny global modell för internationell högre utbildning

Sedan utbrottet av covid-19 har det kommit ett stort antal artiklar som diskuterar de långsiktiga effekterna av pandemin och nedstängningar inom högre utbildning. Ett intressant område är utformning och leverans av internationell högre utbildning. Kan coronaviruset vara en katalysator för förändring? Ny rapport om globala utveckling inom studentstöd
|
|
Den tredje upplagan av Student Affairs and Services in Higher Education: Global foundations, issues, and best practices är en omfattande volym, med cirka 250 författare och bidrag från 125 länder. Rapporten publicerades nyligen av International Association of Student Affairs and Services i samarbete med Deutsches Studentenwerk. I denna tredelade specialrapport beskriver och analyserar författarnastudentfrågor utifrån ett globalt perspektiv, utveckling och problem, framsteg och utmaningar. KI - one of another five Swedish universities that will become a European university

Welcome - newly admitted international (and national) students!
|
|
Due to COVID-19, all newly admitted international and Swedish students in our global Master's and Bachelor's programmes and exchange students were welcome to a digital introduction day 27 August 2020. KI will host only a few exchange students this fall and only for non-clinical courses. Among all admitted new students we can find previous study experiences from 73 different countries (including Sweden). Read more about the programme for the Digital Introduction Day.

Linneaus-Palme applications approved for new and existing collaborations
|
|
KI annually applies for new collaborations or extensions of existing educational collaborations with countries outside Europe through the Sida-financed Linneaus-Palme (LP) programme. The collaborations cover both student and teacher exchanges. In June, UHR announced that all of KI's four applications had been approved. This was good news for the study programmes in Occupational therapy, Dentistry and Medicine. More information om KI's projects and coordinators (in Swedish). Maria Bradley, Coordinator for the LP Collaboration in Medicine with Malawi: " Thanks to LP-scholarships, Medicine students and teachers from KI and Malawi get fantastic opportunities to experience very different education- and healthcare systems. Continued funding also provides continuity, which is important for developing the collaboration."

KI strengthens its position in several areas of the Shanghai ranking
|
|
This year and last year, several method changes were made which meant that a number of the world's universities have either been moved up or down on the Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU's (also called the Shanghai ranking) various ranking lists. Changes have included how publications, highly citied researchers and prize winners are counted. Recently, a new ranking was released from ARWU. KI remains in a stable position and and strengthens its position in several areas. Read more at news.ki.se

Understanding the full value of international students

Author Ly Tran from Deakin University recently discusses in an article in University World News that "the current focus on the economic value of international students may represent a missed opportunity to recognise and optimise the diverse cultural, intellectual and experiential values that international students can offer to internationalise online delivery, made the new normal by COVID-19, and to enrich learning for all." Towards a global delivery model for international higher education

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, there have been a large number of articles exploring the impact of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns on the future of higher education. One area of interest is the design and delivery of international higher education. Could the coronavirus be a catalyst for change? Report: The global landscape of student affairs and services

The third edition of Student Affairs and Services in Higher Education: Global foundations, issues, and best practices is an enormous volume, involving around 250 authors and others from 125 countries. The open access book was recently published by the International Association of Student Affairs and Services with Deutsches Studentenwerk. In this three-part Special Report, authors describe and interpret the landscape of student affairs globally, developments and issues, achievements and challenges. It can be downloaded from researchgate.
