Samlad hjärnkraft för framtiden - KI:s launch av NeurotechEU

Webbinariet ”Can we pick your brain?” anordnades nyligen i syfte att i informera studenter och personal och för att uppmuntra till engagemang i NeurotechEU. Europauniversitetet NeurotechEU består av åtta universitet som hade en gemensam lansering i november och sedan dess har KI arbetat intensivt för att utveckla en intern organisation. Bob Harris, KI:s akademiska företrädare i NeurotechEU:s Board of Govenors, välkomnade förra veckan ca 60 anställda, studenter och associerade partners till webbinariet. Läs mer om eventet på ki.se

Welcoming Synapses: From Cajal to NeurotechEU

Den 3 maj mellan 10.00-17.00 anordnar NeurotechEU:s studentråd en kick-off. Syftet med evenemanget är att presentera NeurotechEU:s studentföreningen och samtidigt uppmärksamma 169-årsdagen av den spanska läkaren och Nobelpristagaren Santiago Ramón y Cajals födelse. Förnyat stöd från SI för utbildningsprogram med fokus på Agenda 2030

Karolinska Institutet har återigen beviljats finansiellt stöd från Svenska Institutet (SI) för att genomföra två kapacitetshöjande utbildningsprogram för yrkesverksamma i Afrika. Utbildningsprogrammen kommer att ges på distans under 2021-2022. Läs mer på nyheter.ki.se

13 procent fler antagna till höstens internationella utbildningar

Antagningsbeskeden har nu gått ut till alla som har anmält sig till höstens internationella kurser och program. Antalet antagna ökar med 13 procent jämfört med höstterminen 2020 – 13 av 22 universitet och högskolor tar i höst in fler sökande till dessa utbildningar. För KI:s del har antalet sökande till de globala masterprogrammen minskat något, medan antalet sökande ökat till kandidatprogrammet i biomedicin. Flest sökande till KIs utbildningsprogram (där land är angivet) kommer från Nigeria, Kina, Storbrittannien och USA. Mer information om statistik på nationell nivå finns på UHR:s webb.

Clinical studies for exchange students cancelled this autumn

Due to the strained situation in the medical and health care as well as clinical study settings, all exchange studies for incoming students on clinical courses and clinical rotations during the autumn semester 2021 are cancelled. For other courses such as research-oriented projects, the department or programme committee responsible for respective study programme decides on the possibility of offering study places to incoming students. KI recommends students who plan to study abroad during the autumn to closely follow the situation in the host country, stay updated on the current travel restrictions from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and to take into account in the planning that the situation may change at short notice.

Picking brains for the future – KI’s launch of NeurotechEU

The webinar "Can we pick your brain?" was recently organized with the aim of informing students and staff and to encourage involvement in Neurotech EU. The European University NeurotechEU consists of eight universities that had a joint launch in November and since then KI has worked intensively to develop an internal organization. Bob Harris, KI's academic representative appointed to NeurotechEU's Board of Governors, last week welcomed about 60 staff, students and associates to the webinar. Welcoming Synapses: From Cajal to NeurotechEU

The NeurotechEU student council is organising a kick-off event on 3 May at 10:00-17:00. The aim of the event is to introduce the student association of NeurotechEU and to celebrate the occasion of the Spanish physician and Nobel Laureate Santiago Ramón y Cajal’s 169th birthday. Continued funding from SI for training programmes supporting the 2030 Agenda

Karolinska Institutet has been granted renewed funding from the Swedish Institute (SI) to implement two capacity building training programmes for professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa. The training programmes will be offered online during 2021-2022. Read more at news.ki.se

Admission increase by 13 percent to the autumn's international education

The admission notifications have now been sent out to student admitted to the autumn's international courses and programmes. On a national level the number of admissions has increased by 13 percent compared with the autumn semester 2020.13 of 22 higher education institutions in Sweden will admit more students this autumn semester. For KI's part, the number of applicants for the global master's programmes has decreased somewhat, while the number has increased for the bachelor's programme in biomedicine. Most applicants for KI's study programmes (where country is indicated) come from Nigeria, China, the United Kingdom and the United States. ACA launches new “Think Piece” series for 2021 on inclusion in International Higher Education

Following 2020’s successful run of Academic Cooperation Association’s (ACA) “Think Pieces” series The World after COVID-19, exploring the consequences on the international higher education sector, ACA has launched a new series of reflections from thought leaders around Europe on the theme of inclusion in international higher education. Is European Universities Initiative helping to build EHEA?

The European Universities Initiative has released new energy both for the Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), according to a new analysis conducted by Dan Andrée, senior advisor at Karolinska Institute who represents Stockholm trio (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University) in Brussels. His analysis focuses on how the European Universities Initiative (EUI) has been received in Sweden compared to the larger countries on the Continent. Read more in University World News.
