KI står värd för det årliga mötet för Europauniversitetet NeurotechEU. Mötet skulle ursprungligen hållits i november men har flyttats fram till den 31 januari 2022. Stärkta partnerskap lyfter svenska och utländska lärosäten

Det biståndsfinansierade utbytesprogrammet Linnaeus-Palme partnerskap (LP) ska stärka partnerskapen mellan svenska lärosäten och lärosäten i låg- och medelinkomstländer. En färsk inventering visar att de kollegiala partnerskap som LP-programmet finansierar leder till både ökad internationalisering och förverkligandet av Agenda 2030. Läs mer på UHR:s sida.

Scholar's at Risk Courage to Think Award till KI alumn Ahmadreza Djalali

Den 9 december arrangerar Scholars at Risk (SAR) "Free to Think 2021", ett virtuellt symposium då rapporten Free to Think 2021 presenteras. I slutet av symposiet kommer SAR att dela ut 2021 Courage to Think Award. Årets pristagare är den fängslade forskaren och KI-alumnen Ahmadreza Djalali. Har du fått och besvarat enkäten om utbildning i internationalisering, mångfald och inkludering för administrativ personal?

Det STINT-finansierade projektet SiiUss har startat! KI har tillsammans med University of the Philippines Diliman nått sin första milstolpe, en enkät har skickats till administrativ personal på KI för att inventera behoven inför utvecklingen av en onlinekurs om internationalisering, kulturell kompetens, mångfald etc. Projektteamet ser fram emot att analysera svaren. Halvering av inresande studenter under pandemiåret

Ny officiell statistik visar att antalet utländska studenter som studerar vid svenska lärosäten minskade i jämförelse med läsåret 2019/2020. Det gäller både det totala antalet utländska studenter och nya inresande studenter. Det stora tappet gäller utbytesstudenterna, medan antalet freemover-studenter påverkats i betydligt mindre utsträckning. Läs mer på UKÄ:s sida.

The interdisciplinary collaboration was key to the solution

This year's Skillbridge Student Case Challenge was decided in early October and in the winning team, Team Delta, was KI student in Bioentrepreneurship Ala Abdallah. Skillbridge Student Case Challenge is a competition where students from Berghs School of Communication, Karolinska Institutet, the Royal Institute of Technology, and the Stockholm School of Economics work together to solve actual challenges from companies. This year's case challenge was presented by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and touched on the topic of public-private partnerships. Read more at news.ki.se.

NeurotechEU Summit and NeurotechRI kick-off postponed until early next year

KI is hosting the annual meeting of the European university alliance NeurotechEU, which was postponed and will now be held digitally 31 January 2022. The closely related project NeurotechRI is organizing a kick-off on 7 February. You find both events on NeurotechEU's landing page on ki.se and in the KI calendar. Welcome to participate!

Strengthened partnerships lift Swedish and foreign higher education institutions 

The Sida-financed exchange programme Linnaeus-Palme Partnership (LP) aims to strengthen partnerships between Swedish higher education institutions and higher education institutions in low- and middle-income countries. A recent inventory by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) shows that the collegial partnerships lead to both increased internationalisation and the realisation of Agenda 2030. KI alumnus Ahmadreza Djalali receives SAR Courage to Think Award 2021

Join Scholars at Risk on December 9, 2021, for “Free to Think 2021” a virtual symposium marking the release of SAR’s Free to Think 2021 report tracing attacks on higher education communities around the world. At the conclusion of the symposium, SAR will present the 2021 Courage to Think Award. This year´s awardee is the imprisoned researcher and KI alumnus Ahmadreza Djalali. Have you received and answered the survey on training in Internationalisation, diversity and inclusion for adminstrative staff?

The STINT-funded project SiiUss has started! KI together with University of the Philippines Diliman has reached its first milestone, a survey has been sent to the members of the support services at KI to get a better understanding of their needs and incorporate them into the development of a tandem online course covering internationalisation, cultural competence, diversity etc. The project team looks forward to analysing the answers. Reduced number of incoming students by half during the pandemic (year)

New official statistics show that the number of foreign students studying at Swedish higher education institutions decreased in comparison to the academic year 2019/2020. This applies to both the total number of foreign students and new incoming students. The large loss refers to incoming exchange students, while the number of freemover students has been affected to a much lesser extent. Read more in Swedish on UKÄ's website.

A missed opportunity for the future of HE internationalisation

On 25 October, international education organizations from nine Western countries published the 2021 Common Statement in Support of International Education and Mobility. The authors Hans de Wit and Elsbeth Jones write about their disappointment with the content and the (lack of) development in internationalisation of education in general. Towards a more diversified future for higher education

Judith S Eaton and Stamenka Uvalic-Trumbic present the results of a Virtual Conversation about different forms and providers of education in an article. The conversation included representatives from five different countries. Eaton and Uvalic-Trumbic explain the background to a new educational landscape and how education of the future probably lies at the intersection between the alternative and the traditional. Universities without walls - a joint vision for 2030

The European Universities Association (EUA), which represents more than 800 European universities and rectors' conferences from 48 countries, has published a joint vision, Universities without walls - a vision for 2030. The document emphasizes the importance of collaborating with the surrounding society, academic freedom and the emergence of a common European arena for education and research based on common values ​​and a willingness to work together. IMOTION - Erasmus staff training

The IMOTION staffmobility.eu online platform developed by the project's consortium centralises information about training activities for university administrative and technical staff organised in Europe.
