KI får två nya globala masterprogram
|
|
|
|
|
KI:s utbildning är under ständig utveckling och nu utökas det internationella programutbudet med två ytterligare program. Det är masterprogrammet i translationell fysiologi och farmakologi samt masterprogrammet i nutritionsvetenskap som kommer få sina första studenter till hösten 2022. Läs mer på nyheter.ki.se.

Välkommen till NeurotechEU Summit 31 januari
|
|
KI står värd för det årliga mötet för Europauniversitetet NeurotechEU. Mötet skulle ursprungligen hållits i november men har flyttats fram till den 31 januari 2022. Systerprojektet NeurotechRI välkomnar till kick-off den 7 februari 2022. Båda eventen hittar du på NeurotechEU:s landingssida på ki.se och i kalendern. Välkommen att delta!

Coronaviruset och högskolan - inresande mobilitet
|
|
Coronapandemin har under lång tid begränsat högskolornas verksamhet inom undervisning och forskning. Universitetskanslersämbetet (UKÄ) har fått i uppdrag av regeringen att följa upp pandemins konsekvenser för högskolan och nyligen publicerades delrapport 2. En tidig och tydlig konsekvens av coronapandemin var att den internationella studentmobiliteten minskade kraftigt. Mest påverkades utbytesstudenterna som var betydligt färre under läsåret 2020/2021 jämfört med innan pandemin. Preliminära uppgifter för höstterminen 2021 visar att den inresande studentmobiliteten till stor del har återhämtat sig och är tillbaka på samma nivå som innan pandemin. Detta gäller dock inte KI:s inresande mobilitet då möjligheten att ta emot studenter för kliniska placeringar varit begränsad under pandemin. Läs mer om delrapport 2 på UKÄ:s sida.

Utländska masterstudenter och doktorander lämnar Sverige
|
|
Svenskt Näringsliv har precis publicerat en rapport om problem och hinder för internationell spetskompetens att stanna i Sverige. I rapporten beskrivs hur vanligt det är att utländska masterstudenter och doktorander stannar i Sverige samt orsakerna till att de lämnar. Rapporten ger också förslag på åtgärder. Europa och världen behöver ett systematiskt stöd till utsatta studenter
|
|
Genom historien har studenter kämpat för demokrati, mänskliga rättigheter och akademisk frihet. På grund av detta har flera studentaktivister fällts för brott och drabbats av förföljelse, polisvåld och mord. Som svar på denna utveckling grundades 2014 programmet Students at Risk (StAR) under det norska utrikesdepartementet. Läs mer i University World News.

Paradigmskifte i EU:s samarbete med afrikanska lärosäten
|
|
Beslutsfattare förbereder sig för ett toppmöte den 17–18 februari 2022 där ett nytt flerårigt strategiskt avtal (2021–27) mellan Afrikanska unionen (AU) och Europeiska unionen (EU) kommer att slutas. Inför detta möte samlades flera lärosäten till en virtuell konferens den 22 november med temat "Strengthening the African knowledge society: Towards more sustainable African-European university partnerships", Under konferensen enades deltagande lärosäten om att förstärkt afrikansk-europeiskt universitetssamarbete bör vara en nyckelkomponent i avtalet. NeurotechEU-partner bjuder in till Staff Week i maj
|
|
KI:s partner i Europauniversitetet NeurotechEU, Universität Bonn (University of Bonn), välkomnar personal från deras samarbetspartners att söka till en Staff Week 2-6 maj 2022. Temat för veckan är "Working in a diverse environment". Om man antas till programmet kan man söka Erasmusmedel för att täcka resa och uppehälle. Sök senast 21 januari 2022. Two new global master's programmes at KI
|
|
KI's education is in constant development. The international programme offering is now expanding, and two additional master’s programmes have been added to the catalogue. It is The Master's Programme in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology and The Master's Programme in Nutrition Science that will start during the autumn of 2022. Read more at news.ki.se.

KI is hosting the annual meeting of the European university alliance NeurotechEU, which will be held digitally 31 January 2022. COVID-19 and higher education - inbound student mobility
|
|
The corona pandemic has for a long time put a strain on higher education institutions' teaching and research. The Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) has been commissioned by the government to follow up on the consequences of the pandemic for the universities. UKÄ recently published Interim Report 2. An early and clear consequence of the corona pandemic was that international student mobility dropped. The exchange students were most affected. They were significantly fewer during the academic year 2020/2021 compared with before the pandemic. Preliminary data for the autumn semester 2021 show that incoming student mobility has largely recovered and is back at the same level as before the pandemic. This is not the situation for KI where inbound mobility has been restricted due to limitations in clinical rotations. See more (in Swedish) on the intierim report on UKÄ's web page.

Foreign master's students and doctoral students leave Sweden
|
|
The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise has just published a report on problems and obstacles for international excellence to stay in Sweden. The report describes how frequent it is for foreign master's and doctoral students to stay in Sweden. It also covers the obstacles and problems that cause students and doctoral students to leave and also suggests solutions. Read more and download the report (in Swedish) on their site.

Why Europe and the world need a ‘student at risk’ support scheme
|
|
Throughout history, students have been at the forefront when democracy, human rights or academic freedom is threatened. As a result of their activism, students have been met with persecution, criminalisation, vicious policing and killings.In response to this trend, the Students at Risk (StAR) programme was established 2014 under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Paradigm shift in EU’s collaboration with HE in Africa
|
|
As policymakers gear up for a summit on 17-18 February 2022 where a new multi-year strategic agreement (2021-27) between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) will be introduced, research universities sent a clear message that enhanced African-European university collaboration should be a key component of the agreement. This message was highlighted at a virtual conference themed “Strengthening the African knowledge society: Towards more sustainable African-European university partnerships” on 22 November. NeurotechEU partner arranges Staff Week in May
|
|
KI's partnerin the European University Alliance NeurotechEU, University of Bonn, welcomes staff from partner institutions to apply for a Staff Week 2-6 May 2022. The theme for the week is "Working in a diverse environment". If you are accepted, you can apply for Erasmus funds to cover travel and living exptenses. Apply no later than 21 January 2022.
