Studenter tog initiativ till KI:s första Planetary Health Report Card – en rapport om planetär hälsa

Författarna bakom KI:s första Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) är tolv studenter från KI:s olika utbildningsprogram . Engagemanget kommer från ett gemensamt intresse och en oro för miljö, klimat och planetär hälsa. Läs artikeln på ki.se.

KI Alumni China Chapter Event i Shanghai

I Shanghai anordnades i november ett evenemang för KI-alumner. Eventet samlade närmare 100 gäster. Många alumner hade rest långt för att delta i symposiet som arrangerades i anslutning till eventet, "Globalisering av högre utbildning och karriärutveckling". Läs mer på engelska på ki.se.

KI:s officiella alumnambassadörer

KI har för närvarande alumnnätverk i såväl Sverige som i olika nyckelområden världen över. Från och med nu kommer KI Alumni att arbeta med officiella KI alumnambassadörer kopplade till specifika regioner och/eller fokuserade nätverk. Sprid gärna informationen till era alumner att möjligheten att engagera sig som alumnambassadör finns. Läs mer på KI Alumni på ki.se.

Tipsa studenter inför utlandsstudier

Varje år läser drygt 25 000 studenter från Sverige vid universitet och högskolor utomlands. En del ordnar utlandsstudierna på egen hand, men många åker också som utbytesstudenter. På UHR:s vägledarsidor finns info och användbara länkar om utlandsstudier som du kan tipsa dina studenter om. På KI har vi samlat vår information om utbyte och praktik på ki.se.

Lansering av Studenthälsa.se

Nu lanserar Universitets- och högskolerådet (UHR) Studenthälsa.se där studenter på högskolor och universitet får tips och råd för att må bättre. I webbportalen kommer det finnas material för svenska och internationella studenter i Sverige - men också en yta bakom inlogg för medarbetare på olika lärosäten som tillsammans kan hjälpa studenter till ett hållbart studentliv. Lanseringen av Studenthälsa.se sker digitalt 15 januari. Läs mer på uhr.se.

Ansökan öppen till projekt inom Erasmus+

Erasmus+ ger organisationer inom hela utbildningsområdet möjlighet att söka bidrag för utbyten, nätverkssamarbeten och andra projekt som syftar till ny kunskap och kompetensutveckling. Nu är ansökan öppen till Erasmus+ samarbetspartnerskap och kapacitetsuppbyggnadsprojekt.

Nordplus öppet för ansökan

Sök bidrag för nordiskt-baltiskt samarbete: utbyten, nätverkssamarbeten och andra typer av projekt som syftar till ny kunskap och utveckling. Välkommen till 2024 års första Nordplus café anordnat av Universitets- och högskolerådet (UHR) den 9 januari om du vill veta mer. Anmäl dig till caféet genom evenemangskalendern på utbyten.se.

Lärosätena börjar se studieavgifter som inkomstkälla

Studieavgifter för utländska studenter utanför EU, EES eller Schweiz infördes 2011, för att lärosätena skulle ”konkurrera med kvalitet” och för att få kontroll över inflödet av studenter. Med tiden tenderar lärosätena att se studieavgifter som inkomstkälla, enligt en ny rapport refererad till i en artikel i Universitetsläraren nyligen.

Påverkar politiska förändringar studentmobiliteten? 

Det har kommit optimistiska rapporter om internationell studentmobilitet efter pandemin. Men vi kan inte bortse från de möjliga effekterna som den nuvarande geopolitiska verkligheten och instabiliteten kan ha på mobilitet inom högre utbildning och internationalisering. Europe on the Move - ett förslag om framtidens stundentmobilitet

Den 15 november antog kommissionen förslaget "Europe on the Move" som en del av paketet Talent Mobility. Förslaget är en viktig byggsten i det europeiska utbildningsområdet (EEA) som syftar till att göra mobilitet till en integrerad del av all utbildning. Det främjar också EU:s attraktionskraft som studiedestination för talanger från tredje land (dvs utanför EU).Läs mer om förslaget i en nyhetsartikel från Europakommissionen.

Global "ögonblicksbild" av attacker mot akademin släppt av SAR

Det har skett hundratals attacker i 66 länder mot forskare, studenter och institutioner för högre utbildning. Attackerna omfattar allt från en självmordsbombares dödliga attack mot ett utbildningscenter i Kabul till bortföranden av studenter i Nigeria och arresteringar av frispråkiga professorer i Afghanistan. Det här är bara några av de fall som är kända, enligt en ny rapport från det New York-baserade nätverket Scholars at Risk (SAR). Läs artikeln i University World News.

Students initiated KI's first Planetary Health Report Card as part of efforts to establish a sustainable medical school

The authors of KI's first Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) are twelve students from KI's various study programmes. The commitment comes from a common interest and concern for the environment, climate, and planetary health. Read the article on ki.se.

KI Alumni China Chapter Event in Shanghai

A successful KI Alumni China Chapter 2023 networking event was arranged in Shanghai in November, gathering a large crowd from all over China. Many alumni made the effort to join the KI Alumni China Chapter event in Shanghai in November with the adjunct symposium “Globalisation of higher education and career development”. Guests came from all over China, gathering close to 100 alumni at the Hilton Hotel Hongqiao. Read the article on ki.se.

KI currently has active alumni networks both in Sweden as well as in various key regions all over the world. KI Alumni will from now on work with official KI Alumni ambassadors connected to specific regions and/or focused networks. Advise students before studying abroad

Every year, around 25,000 students from Sweden study at universities and colleges abroad. Some arrange the studies abroad themselves, but many also go as exchange students. Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR)'s guidance pages (in Swedish)contain information and useful links about studying abroad that you can advise your students about. At KI, we have gathered our information on ki.se about exchanges and internships.

Launch of Studenthälsa.se - a student health web portal

Now the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) will launch Studenthälsa.se, a web portal where students can get tips and advice to feel better. In the web portal, Swedish and international students in Sweden will have access to useful unformation - but there will also be a section for staff behind login so universities together can support students to a sustainable student life. The launch of Studenthälsa.se takes place digitally on 15 January. Read more (in Swedish) at uhr.se.

Call for Erasmus+ open

Erasmus+ gives organisations within the entire field of education the opportunity to apply for grants for exchanges, network collaborations and other projects aimed at new knowledge and skill development. Now the calls for capacity building and cooperation partnerships are open (information in Swedish).

Call for Nordplus 

Seek grants for Nordic-Baltic cooperation: exchanges, network collaborations and other types of projects aimed at new knowledge and development. Welcome to 2024's first Nordplus café arranged by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) on 9 January if you want to know more. Sign up for the café through the event calendar at utbyten.se.

Tuition fees as a source of income

Tuition fees for foreign students outside EU, EEA and Switzerland were introduced in Sweden in 2011, in order for higher education institutions to "compete with quality" and to control the influx of students. Over time, institutions tend to see tuition fees as a source of income, according to a new report referred to in an article (in Swedish) in Universitesläraren recently.

There have been optimistic reports about international student bounce-back after COVID-19. But we cannot ignore the possible impacts of the current geopolitical reality and instability on higher education mobility and internationalisation. Read a recent article in University World News.

Europe on the Move - a proposal on the future of learning mobility

On 15 November, the EU Commission adopted the proposal for a Council Recommendation ‘Europe on the Move’ – learning mobility opportunities for everyone as part of the Talent Mobility package. This proposal is a key building block of the European Education Area (EEA) aiming to make learning mobility an integral part of all education and training pathways. It also promotes the attractiveness of the EU as a learning destination to talents from third countries. Read more about the proposal in a newsarticle by the Europan Commission.

Global ‘snapshot’ of attacks on academia released by SAR

Hundreds of attacks across 66 countries on scholars, students and higher education institutions have taken place, ranging from the deadly assault by a suicide bomber on a Kabul educational centre to student abductions in Nigeria and arrests of outspoken professors in Afghanistan. These are just the cases that are known, according to a new report by the New York-based Scholars at Risk (SAR) network. Read the article in University World News.
