About Cancer Research KI

Cancer Research KI is an umbrella organisation for all cancer research at the Karolinska Institutet, and comprises around 250 research groups spanning over 22 departments and three campuses.

The overarching aim of the programme is to combine cancer research with clinical oncology in order to generate new scientific discoveries that can be rapidly translated into clinical practice for the benefit of patients and society. Grant Recipients

 

A record number of applications were received this year for the Blue Sky Grant as well as the Translational Seed Funding grant! Cancer Research KI would like to thank each and every applicant for the time and thoughtfullness that was placed into the drafting of their applications. In total 40 Blue Sky applications were received, 5 of which were continuation grants from the same call announcement, along with 38 Translational Seed Funding grants. The comments received regarding the grants, upon external review, were very positive and overall the quality of the applications were deemed very good! Below we list the successful grant recipients for each call.

Blue Sky Grant for Innovative Cancer Research & Technology 

These well-defined innovative cancer research pilot projects aim to demonstrate proof of principle and they should be of a "high risk – high reward" nature that cannot yet attract funding from conventional funding agencies. Further information about these projects are available here.

Translational Seed Funding Grant

These projects aim to foster novel collaborations between basic and clinical scientists to address important problems in the area of translational cancer research. The two scientists should in a joint and collaborative format attack an important problem in translational cancer research, where the unique and complementary expertise from the two applicants is required to solve the research question.
