Circular approach

One of the main concepts of LIFE SURE is to work within the circular economy approach in a way that dredged sediments are seen as resources rather than waste to be transported to the final destination.

LIFE SURE has been working on identifying potential end-users that can use the bottom sediments that are taken from Malmfjärden as raw materials and resources in their activities.

Study visits

In April 2020, the Water department of the Kalmar County Administrative Board paid a study visit to LIFE SURE.

As the site cannot receive visitors at the moment, the group was introduced to the dewatering and water treatment processes through video and images, while enjoying Malmfjärdens waterside.

From a distance, they could see how the dredging robot, Mudster, moved slowly forward to carefully pump up sediments. We hope to have more study visits in the future. For now, please look at our film about the process on land.

Midterm seminar

Our PhD student Laura Ferrans presented her Midterm Seminar on the 27th of May 2020. During the seminar, she introduced the initial results that she obtained during her first years of studies. Check out all her interesting discoveries here
