Newsletter from EfD

September 2021

Dear friend of Environment for Development,

To achieve a successful transition to a green economy, you need to pay close attention to those who may be disadvantaged by the implemented policies and find solutions that are acceptable for as many as possible. That's what an "Inclusive Green Economy" and a "Just Transition" are about. You can learn more about this in our newsletter.

You will also find news about EfD centers, which have been trusted to perform important studies on behalf of national governments and to support the implementation of important policies.

What does women's participation in executive committees mean for the economic outcome in forest user groups? How does air pollution affect mortality in COVID-19? What are the financial risks of investing in industries that are not environmentally sound? Why should old "truths" about water tariffs be challenged? Those are other examples of research topics and news articles that you will find below!

You receive this newsletter because we believe that you share our passion for the environment and development! It provides you with the latest news and research from our network.

Many firms don’t fully disclose the risk of their assets losing their value if climate policies are introduced. This in turn exposes investors to risks. To help those who want to invest in sustainable firms and industries, EfD researchers Samson Mukanjari and Thomas Sterner have developed a method for assessing the exposure of firms and industries to climate transition risk.
