Newsletter from EfD
May 2021
|
Dear friend of Environment for Development,
We are very proud of how our research paves the way for inclusive, green development. In this newsletter, you will find some very concrete examples of impact, such as supporting the development of a UN framework for ecosystem accounting, monitoring Ethiopia's green growth plan, and setting an energy transition research agenda.
Women are underrepresented in economics and especially in leading positions. But women are breaking the glass ceiling - meet two very accomplished researchers who are willing to take on greater responsibilities.
EfD researchers are often interviewed as experts in their field. Check out below how you can stay on top of what the media says about us!
You get this newsletter because we believe that you share the passion for our work! It provides you with the latest news and research from our network.

After the Copenhagen Climate Conference in 2009, the Ethiopian government developed a Climate Resilience and Green Economy (CRGE) strategy. But despite the progress in implementing this strategy, gaps in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) have limited the ability to assess progress. EfD Ethiopia stepped in to fill this gap by collaborating with the Ethiopian government. Read about how they did that!

Energy is the "golden thread" that connects economic growth, social equity and environmental sustainability. Photo: Chris Chesneau, Pixabay
|
Energy is a common denominator for economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability. But important knowledge gaps exist on the impacts of the low- and middle-income countries' energy interventions and transitions. This study offers probably the broadest study of the patterns and consistency in quantitative and peer-reviewed social science literature considering such impacts. Starting from approximately 80,000 papers a relevant subset of 3,000 quantitative papers were selected for this study. 24 EfD researchers cooperated in this gigantic project that yields unique insights!
