About the speaker:

Anke-Hilse Maitland-
van der Zee

Prof. Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee was educated as a pharmacist, clinical pharmacologist and epidemiologist. She obtained her PhD at Utrecht University in 2003, and worked as a postdoc in the Human Genetics Center, University of Texas, Houston Tx, USA from 2003-2005. From 2005-2016 she worked at the division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology of Utrecht University first as an assistant-Professor and later as an associate-Professor of Personalized Medicine.

In 2016, she became a full professor of Precision Medicine in Respiratory disease at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam. She is also head of the research group at the Respiratory Medicine department and of the Pediatric Respiratory Medicine and Allergy department in the AMC.

Her current research focusses on patient-, environmental characteristics and molecular biomarkers (genome, epigenome, transcriptome, microbiome, metabolome) that can predict the optimal treatment for the individual patient with respiratory disease. Maitland-van der Zee is the PI of several large (international) studies.

Thank you, Göran Pershagen!

On 21st February, Göran Pershagen held his senior lecture on the topic of "Environmental epidemiology - an intrument for the development of society through the decades". The lecture was organised by the Institute of Environmental Medicine to thank Göran Pershagen for his valuable contributions to environmental epidemiology research.

Some of the main scientific topics where he contributed substantially are health risk assessements of air pollutants, smoking, noise and radon. He was the initiator of the environmental health reports (miljöhälsorapporten), and was one of the initiators of the BAMSE cohort.

Göran Pershagen has been actively involved in the Centre for Allergy Research, and was a member of the CfA Steering Committee for many years.

Göran Pershagen

Thank you Göran Pershagen, for your valuable contributions to environmental and allergy research!

Congratulations!

The "Good food for all" project had a successfull meeting with the target group - persons with food allergies and food hypersensitivity

On Friday 29th March, KI and CfA hosted a meeting with the target group of the "Good food for all" (Bra mat för alla) project, persons with food allergies and hypersensitivity.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform about the national centre of excellence that is being built up, and to get input on the most pressing issues that persons with food hypersensitivity face in their daily lifes.

Save the date: KiiM Retreat 3-4 October 2019

This year's KiiM retreat which will be held at Skogshem and Wijk on Lidingö 3-4 October. All the people involved in KiiM and Aii are currently working on the programme.

Are you a PhD student and want to help out?

Since this is an important and appreciated event for immunology doctoral students and usually there are around 70 students attending, doctoral students are encouraged to participate in the planning and organization! We are now looking for 2-3 doctoral students to join the KiiM 2019 organising committee!

This will be a great opportunity to network, gain experience of event planning, and make the 2019 KiiM retreat the best doctoral student retreat (+ it looks good on your CV).

Please contact one of the following persons if you are interested: caroline.gronwall@ki.se, stephen.malin@ki.se or mikael.karlsson@ki.se
