Results from PreventADALL study show that skin moisturizers failed to prevent atopic eczema in babies

Babies regularly treated with bath oil and skin cream are no more protected from developing atopic eczema than other babies, according to results from the PreventADALL study at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and the University of Oslo in Norway. Early complementary introduction of certain foods to breastfeeding also failed to reduce the presence of atopic eczema during the first 12 months. The findings are published in The Lancet. PI for the Swedish part of the study is CfA researcher Björn Nordlund.

ATS, EAACI, WAO and ERS will hold digital congresses

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EAACI, WAO and ERS congresses will be held in digital format. This may be an excellent opportunity to join these meetings, even if you had not planned to attend the physical versions. The ATS is cancelled, but has made content available on-line. See also below in the secion "Upcoming conferences and meetings in the asthma and allergy area" for details about more conferences.

ATS (American Thoracic Society)
The congress has been cancelled, but select elements of the conference content will be made available in a web-based format later this year. Abstracts accepted for presentation at ATS 2020 have been made available on the Online Program Itinerary on 1st April 2020 and have been published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine on 1st May 2020.

EAACI (European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology)
The EAACI congress will take place in a digital format, 6-8 June 2020. It is still possible to register.

WAO (World Allergy Organisation)
The WAO International Scientific Conference will be held virtually 16-18 July 2020. Registration is open.

ERS (European Respiratory Society)
The ERS congress will take place 7-9 September as a virtual interactive event. Registration will open beginning of June.
