Join our Local Democracy Talks the 21 October in Tanzania. This live streamed panel-discussion on how to increase women's political participaltion and leadership in the country, is organised together with Swedish Embassy in Tanzania and Act Church of Sweden.

Apply to ICLD's training programme Human Rights Based Approach

This programme will increase your municipality’s institutional capacity to integrate rights-based thinking in municipal service provision. It will also help you contribute to change management processes aimed at achieving socioeconomic development at local level.

Following countries are eligible for this cohort: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine.

How can we advance women's economic empowerment to curb gender based violence?

In our seminar series "Local Democracy Cross-pollination" on 20 October, we will discuss how to advance women’s economic empowerment in local democracies to mitigate increased unemployment and correlated gender based violence.

ICLD is offering field work grants again

Previous awardees

Due to Covid-19, ICLD has not been offering fieldwork grants since 2019. Now, we have revisit this decision and we are about to open up the application again! Our Fieldwork Grant is for master’s students in Sweden. The aim is to provide an opportunity for students to conduct fieldwork in one of ICLD’s countries of cooperation. The application is open until 31 October.

Call for mentors in South Africa, Botswana and Zambia

National mentors in the Gender mainstreamining Programme: Joan Kariuki from Kenya, Danny Chibinda from Zambia, Aggripina Mosha from Tanzania and Joseph Ossyia from Uganda. February 2020.

ICLD is making a call for national Mentors in South Africa, Botswana and Zambia for the ICLD local government network partnerships for Human Rights which includes the training programme “Inclusive Local Governance”. Application closes 31 October.
