Welcome to the first annual meetup on Marine Biotechnology in Gothenburg

To address the ongoing rapid development in marine biotechnology that relates to health, we arrange a symposium on "Marine biotechnology - marine products for health" in Gothenburg. The intention is that this would be a first set in a series of annual meetups on marine biotechnology, providing a connection hub for academia and industry.

Professor Espen Hansen will present how bioactive marine natural products are discovered and how the many bottlenecks underway are best avoided in the search for bioactive components of scientific commercial interest.

Professor Ulf Göransson is leading the field of natural products research in Sweden and he will talk about highly potent marine compounds isolated from marine worms including the longest animal in the world
|

|
|
Professor Kurt Draget is a world-expert on the characterisation and properties of complex polysaccharides. Examples of pharmaceutically active oligosaccharides of marine origin will be presented
|

|
This one-day conference addresses the ongoing rapid development in marine biotechnology that relates to health. The programme is divided into two sessions - Marine Drugs and Marine Medtech. The event is organised by the Maritime Cluster of West Sweden. There will be an opportunity for companies and researchers to present their activities in short presentations - “speed talks”.
